    Last time I've tried to import FBX in Godot, it imported the model but not the material (the nice lowpoly tree was completely white). If it's just fbx, no thanks.

      They should "just work". I do find the secret is to bring in the textures first though.

    Nice style, but I think that I sadly will skip this one. I am kinda tired of keeping track of what I own on different platforms. If the creators are reading this, just make a sale for the specific engine and give me keys for that place, please.

    I think they should just get rid of the middle tiers entirely. They are always so close in price to the highest tier that they never make sense by themselves.

      I think it’s called popcorn pricing, they want you to always buy the high tier so they make the middle not worth it

      There is also adjusting the price to match what is being sold. In this case I would say that the middle tier should cost somewhere between 7 to 9 dollars.

      Why would you feel bad? They are for the exact purpose, to use for your games. Not everyone is a 3d artist and it could save some time next to stuff you did make yourself.

      The only time you should feel bad is if you're doing shameless asset flips, if you're putting in the work to make your own systems and even tweak assets to your liking I see no point in feeling bad

      @@outlander7370 While you and the others in here are absolutely right, I think that I feel this way because I'm losing the uniqueness of the game knowing that the exact asset can be seen in a different project. Totally a me problem, but I prefer working harder and having self made assets only I have (At least my project is a 2D pixelated game)

    If you develop a project with Unity their engine has code in it designed to notify the company that a product is being used that was made with their engine. This is going to slow your game down and take additional bandwidth out of your available throughput on your internet connection. UE5 is coming out victorious.

    Okay, so some of the people responsible are gone... but has the policy been revoked? Last time I checked they were going ahead with it on new versions of the engine. Meaning there WILL be a distinct split in the community between people who will refuse to use the version that falls under the new worthless policy, and those die-hards who don't mind getting ripped off.... and I guess students who don't think they will be making any money from their work, but even those people probably don't want to learn an engine they can't then use.

    I wrote an undergraduate paper on this topic in 2014. I bit off a bit more than I could chew, audio can pass through material, the wavelengths can bend around corners etc. I’m very impressed to see this type of technology coming to production.

    Tue javaxcript addition seems like nothing to me. Gml is already somethinf you cak write in a very javascript like aybtax. Theres also elements of c# to it too. So im not clear yet in how js cosibg would actually be any sifferent. I could see c# being very different as there are very specific ways functions and sybtax work. But well need to aee it in action.

    important thing to notice is if you're from outside of the US it is possibly way cheaper buying it on steam because of localized prices. (but hey, building it from source is cheaper and you also get to learn new things)

    I understand C# support, that can bring in users from Unity, Godot and a few other engines. Since it's compiled, multiplatform, strongly typed and somewhat versatile language. But why Javascript? Since they already have their own language, having to support 3 languages can become quite troublesome, even Unity dropped mono in favor of C#. The only thing I can imagine is that they are considering sunsetting their own language in favor of Javascript, that is quite similar, but more mature and widely known.

    The Godot game engine has a decent PBR renderer, tons of excellent features, C#, GDScript, and C++ support, and full Blender integration. I would highly recommend it for your next game.

    When Verse gets released for UE6 or whatever, all the language integrations for UE won't have a reason to exist. Except for Nim of course, because of how it interops with c++ (most if not all of the things you can do in c++ you can do in nim without having to create glue code in c++ as all the other integrations). And c++ is never going away.
